  1. windows menus stuck on 4k size, on non-4k monitor

hi, i have been having this issue randomly every so often. i have 3 monitors- two are not 4k, the other is its a wacom cintiq tablet. every so often ill have issues where the windows menus ONLY the windows menus are really big, as if theyre scaled for a 4k monitor. but in every case, my 4k monitor hasnt been turned on, isnt on, etc. if i turn on my 4k monitor and turn it off, nothing changes. additionally my taskbar/menus have never been on this monitor anyways so i dont know why this happens.

below are two screenshots of it. one with when i right click an icon clearly you can see how the options are all cut off due to size and another of the notification menu where the buttons are all too large.

    :)

    4K Monitor Loses 4K Option

Last night (11 Dec 2015) there was a Windows 10 update (I am running Windows 10 Pro). This morning my 4k monitor (ASUS PB287Q) was showing up as 1080p, and Settings does not recognize that this is a 4K monitor. The 4K resolution simply does not show up as
an option. Nor does the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForece GT 370) recognize that it is 4K.

Why would Microsoft mess with any of that? I find this really troubling. Do I reinstall a driver for the monitor? They don't have a driver specifically for Windows 10, just Windows 8.

    Combining a 4k and 2 1080 monitors in windows 10

Is there a solution by now for the scaling problem when using a 4k and a (in my case 2) 1080 monitor(s)?

I found 4 options, but all with some fairly big downsides.

The main problem is that the advised dpi scaling for a 4k is 150% and for a 1080 is 100%. I would think that anyone can calculate that there is a big difference in actual size with regards to dpi to pixel ratio. Obviously a 4k would need a 2 to 1 ratio to
    a 1080. So 150% and 100% don't really work.

Solutions that are not really satisfactory:

    1. In the current default setting icons, fonts and menu's in applications are very big and fuzzy on my 1080 monitors (27 inch), but very good on my 4k monitor.

    2. Setting the scaling on the 4k monitor to 200% which results in matching the pixel to dpi ratio. This results in everything being ridiculously big on my 4k monitor (32 inch) and still leaves me with fuzzy fonts on my 1080's.

    3. Using a registry hack to set dpi lower than default, 96 to 72 for example which would give me the option to virtually choose 75% for my 1080's and 150% for my 4k monitor, but then windows 10 doesn't let me set the dpi scaling for any monitor (grayed out).

    4. Using nvidia settings to emulate 4k on my 1080's which works to some degree, the ratio's match, but this gives me a fuzzy result on the 1080's.

What I would actually need is being able to set the 1080's to 75% and leave the 4k on 150%. This matches the ratios, would most likely give me a sharper image on the 1080's and have all the sizes of fonts, icons and menu's to a good size, but windows 10
    doesn't give me this option.

    Anyone found a solution? Microsoft?

    Thanks,

    Erik

Windows Snip on 4k Monitor vs Laptop Screen

I have a 1080p laptop, but 100% use it with an external 4k monitor.

When I attempt to print screen (Snipping Tool) the capture size defaults to the 1920 x 1080 from the laptop and ignores the 4k screen. This means much is left off the clip, and the resolution is terrible.

In practice this means that as print screen is pressed the 4k screen is shrunk to a 1080 version on the larger screen (ie, appears in the top left quarter), but this shrinking makes it impossible to get a clip with enough accuracy and DPI to make it legible.

    Any suggestions?
