Windows 10: the audio on my new laptop disappears after sleepclosing lid. It is restored by a reboot...

disappearing audio.


My laptop is newish . i am frustrated by an audio problem which has been present since buying the laptop.


PROBLEM. the audio disappears after sleeping and is only restored if i reboot. Closing the lid then makes the audio disappear.


I have tried all the audio variations available to a user and nothing seems to work. I have reset the computer twice but that does not cure.


the latop is up to date with the latest updates.


I have two other old laptops and they do not suffer from this problem.


The only difference in the 3 laptop updates is the new one is windows 10 S version

Monitor Audio speakers disappears when closing lid.

I've got the following system:

- Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 (I7 / 16GB / 512GB)

- Microsoft Surface Docking Station

- Asus MX25AQ Monitor connected to Docking Station via Displayport

- Logitech keyboard connected to Docking Station via USB

- Logitech mouse connected to Docking Station via USB

- LAN connected to Docking Station

If I start the laptop with lid open everything works fine.

Microsoft finds both realtek HD speaker on Laptop and MX25AQ monitor speakers and I can switch speakers from notebook to monitor and back using the volume icon.

When I close the laptop lid the screen I can see the monitor in full resolution, but MX25AQ audio disappears and I can only hear sound from the laptop.

If I open the lid again it is still gone.

For audio on MX25AQ monitor to work I need to restart windows with laptop lid closed.

Is there an option that when I close the lid of the laptop audio will switch to the MX25AQ monitor or at least not remove the MX25AQ option from volume icon ?

My audio output devices have disappeared from my HP laptop.

I have an HP laptop running Windows 10. My audio output devices have disappeared. Not just no devices installed, but no devices listed in Device Manager. Tried troubleshooting and still no devices found. Tried connecting USB speakers, but those were not
detected either.

Suggestions?

I've changed the Energy plan: "when closing the lid" to do nothing, because else the laptop will go into sleep mode.

I close the laptop lid just because I only want to use the monitor and the monitor speaker.
