Windows 10: Is LGA 1200 compatible with 1155 Socket?

I would like to know if an i3-10100 LGA 1200 is compatible with my DDR3 motherboard that has 1155 Socket. I'm not interested about the cooler, I am interested if it will fit the socket.

Hi guys, a silly but (at least for me), important question:

I actually have a motherboard ASUS P8H77-M PRO with LGA 1155 chipset and an Intel Core (TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz processor and I have Windows 10 Pro installed on an ssd.

Now I wanna upgrade the old motherboard with an ASUS PRIME Z490-P with chipset Intel Z490 (LGA 1200) and an Intel Core i5-10400 processor, 10th Gen.

Is it possible to keep my current Windows 10 Pro installation ?

I mean, will Windows 10 Pro discover the new motherboard and the new processor upgrading automatically the configuration and the system drivers ?
May it work ?


In case you believe not:

Will I have to do a new installation of Windows 10 Pro BUT over the old one, without formatting the ssd ?

or

Will I have to format the ssd and do a new and fresh installation of Windows 10 Pro ?


Obviously the first option is the fastest, but not the best (formatting is always the best option) but I would like to do a fast and decent job, without going crazy.

I think it is OEM. The original computer had a factory installed OS from Hewlett Packard. We do not know how @74lobster installed Windows or activated it on the motherboard that it was upgraded to. Somehow the original OEM product key got changed to the generic Windows 10 product key. The generic Windows 10 product key will always activate on the retail channel, even if the underlying license for that computer is OEM.

For example, on my own Laptop. New install of Windows 10 Home. Picked up the product key in UEFI firmware and installed and activated Home. OEM license and activation:





Then I uninstall the product key from UEFI firmware, and install the Windows 10 Home generic product key:

The result now:





Now it is activated via the retail channel instead of the OEM_DM channel. And, I am not even logged into a Microsoft Account! The only account on this Windows 10 Home is a local account. The result returned by slmgr /dlv cannot be relied upon to determine if the underlying license for Windows is OEM or retail.

 

1155 Socket Fan/Heatsinks

Microsoft :

I'm tryingr to find a compatible Fan/Heatsink for an 1155 Socket. But most of them are rated at 0.17A. The one that I' m replacing is rated at 0.28A. The part number for the one I want to replace is.....E97379-001 (which is rated at 0.28A ). I DID
did find at least one with the same part number, but rated at 0.17A (instead of 0.28A). Would I have a problem using the one rated at 0.17A ?
