Windows 10: Win 10 Sound problem, fixes with Microphone. What could it be?

After Rockstar logo in RDR2 or GTAV the volume drops to lowest, while the volume settings everywhere are usual. Fixes if clicking on a new Microphone logo on task bar, then - Allow apps using microphone - Off - On - Volume is back at normal. Same this or clicking off-on voice chat in GTAV. Appeared after setting fresh Win on a laptop.

External microphone does not work

The issue could be because of the microphone being in a disabled state. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

• Open Control Panel and categorize to view by
  Small Icons.
  
• Click on Speech Recognition and navigate to
  Advanced Speech Options > Microphone > Advanced
  
• Check Real Conexant HD Audio, save the changes and exit
  Control Panel.
  
• Restart the machine to see if the microphone works.

Method 2:

To fix the issue with Microphone, I suggest you to make sure that the microphone that you are using is not disabled and is set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:

a. Right-click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.

b. Now, right-click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.

c. Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the
microphone is enabled.

d. You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.
