Windows 10: Windows 10 Freezes Under Light Load

This case looks a bit mysterious. My Windows freezes permanently/hard reboot in approximately 3-5 mins after starting up.


To fix this issue I tried:

1. Run update and install major and secondary updates

Result: Windows froze in the middle of installation, and later - in the middle of reboot while installing updates

2. Run memory check. Using the memory test in Administrative Tools Selected Extensive Test option

Result: No errors

3. Change RAM. I changed my RAM for the spare I had

Result: No effect. Windows continues to freeze

4. Update BIOS

Result: No effect. Windows continue to freeze

5. Reinstalled Windows with FULL clean-up

Result: Windows installation froze about 10 times, but I managed to complete the installation didn't know it could do that

6. Replaced my GPU with a spare one. Just thought maybe this is the cause.

Result: No effect. Windows continues to freeze

7. Downloaded a diagnostic software: "AIDA64"

Result:

1. Diagnostic has not revealed any issues with any hardware component

2. Windows has NOT frozen a single time while the diagnostic was running

3. ANY test keeps Windows running, including GPU-only test

8. Temporary solution: Immediately after login, start the AIDA64 and run GPU diagnostics indefinitely.

Result: The CPU is not being loaded, which allows running all other applications. No freezing while the stress test is running. No games, of course, but enough for Outlook and other Office apps


This is a temp solution, of course, until I either fix the issue or buy a new system.


Does anyone have any idea of what could cause this issue? I would greatly appreciate any help with this problem.

Windows 10 freezes randomly

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin

I had tried that as well... no result.

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
