Windows 10: Laptop not working after update

Laptop updated last night 6pm. Turned it back on at 8pm and got BSOD. Tried all the hacks I googled that seemed sensible and didnt involve a lot of coding, but even once I got into the laptop and home screen up, things like settings, control panel, any of the apps wouldn't load.


Been trying again today for the last 5 hours. Managed to do the SFC scan, which gave back no problems. Tried to do a system restore and it said it wasn't able to on this machine. Finally managed to access settings and update history and whatever update occurred last night isn't in the history. Laptop is still crashing repeatedly, taking half an hour to load up one page. Was working fine before this, it's a hp pavilion bought only in July.


Literally any advice, I'm not 100% sure if all my stuff is backed up and I can't access google or anything on the laptop to attempt to redownload windows.

Which laptop should I buy with budget within 1000USD?

Really, you should be getting a list of laptops you like the look of, narrowing it down and then asking on here which is best.

Asking people for suggestions really doesn't work well as most people only have experience with 1-2 laptops at a time.

Searching all the shopping sites and creating a list for you is a lot of work.

You need to do the work and we can help with the rest.
