    New Hard drive how to keep licence?


    My OS drive is acting up. If I shut down It always takes a long time to re boot as Widows is "repairing" So I bought a new 480 GB SSD drive.

    In the old days I would have had a disk with a product key. But this is a W10 update from my W8 disk. That key doesn't work. and there's no key with W10 anymore. I built the Computer myself.

    I tried the Restore option but it does not recognize the USB drive.

    Is there a way to get my product key from MS?

    I would rather use the restore disk as it will keep a lot of my settings. Is there a trick to this. I'm using a USB drive enclosure with a 80GB laptop drive in it. It opens on my other computer and shows a few folders.

    Overclock your hard drive!!!

    Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
    Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!
