Windows 10: Regarding RAM Misunderstanding From Computer

Greetings Microsoft,


For a while I have been dealing with 8GB of DDR4 RAM on my desktop PC and recently decided to add in an extra 8GB of DDR4 RAM so that in total I can have 16GB of RAM. However, I am noticing an issue ever since I inserted my second RAM stick into my motherboard. The issue is that my computer won't recognize the extra 8GB RAM stick that I just inserted. To ensure, I have fully inserted the RAM stick into the RAM slot in my motherboard as I gave it a push or two to make sure it's fully in.


When I checked on my motherboards bios to see if the BIOS recognizes my RAM, and it very well does, but when I go to About Your PC, it only shows that I have only 8GB of RAM installed.


I have also checked on the performance on the task manager, and that as well does show that I have only 8GB of RAM installed.


I have restarted my computer dozens of times, as well as just having the brand new RAM stick installed and from my observations, there's nothing wrong with the new RAM stick that I just bought, it's not broken in any way.


If you know a fix for my situation, I'll be pleased to know.


Lastly, I am on the latest version of Windows 10.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

To RAM or not to RAM...

Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin

 

Unknown Constant RAM Usage

To explore more on RAM usage by processes and see in-depth I advise you to open the Resource monitor, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 :

Open Task Manager

Step 2:

Click on Performance

Step 3:

At the bottom click on Open Resource Monitor

Step 4:

Under Resource Monitor windows click on Memory

Step 5:

Click on Working Set to list the top process utilizing the more RAM and then evaluate RAM usage.
