Windows 10: Hyper-V Server 2019 - hardware compatibility?

Hi.

I'm buying a new PC for Hyper-V Server 2019, running a couple of Windows 10 VM's. I would like to buy a new computer to last at least some years. I'm reading some posts that people have some issues with drivers for NIC interfaces, so I guess having the latest technology might not be a wise solution.

Just to be sure. I'm not talking about Windows Server 2019 running Hyper V, but standalone Hyper-V Server 2019. That is OS for running VM's. Only command-line and Power Shell.

Some users said they had to install AMD Chipset drivers, but I don't know if that's possible on Hyper-V Server 2019 using command-line/PowerShell?

Can you please advise me which CPU and Motherboard chipset to buy for best performance and as few compatibility issues as possible?

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8 Cores / 16 Threads /105W - newer
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12 Cores / 24 Threads /105W - older but more cores

Motherboard chipset:
AMD X570 - latest
AMD B550

If there's anything else that would present compatibility issues please advise.

Why isn't Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2019 on the Microsoft Evaluation Center

I am aware that there were some issues with the Windows Server 2019 evaluation media after its rerelease on November 13, 2018. I am also aware that the issues are fixed and Windows Server 2019 Standard and Datacenter ISO is back. However, Hyper-V Server
2019 is not out one week later. If you go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-hyper-v-server-2019 you will not be able to download it. If you go to hyper-v-backup.backupchain.com/windows-server-2019-iso-free-download-hyper-v-server-2019/
you can download it using Microsoft links. Has Microsoft forgotten about Hyper-V Server 2019 or is there an issue with that too?

 

Hyper-V Server Core 2019

I did temporary install of hyper-v server core 2019 but was left bemused as to how we're supposed to administer system properties locally.

How do I manage System Properties or other Control Panel items from the command line?

There doesn't appear (on disk) to be a pagefile created and got me wondering how to manage such things. Also, automatic driver installation and system protection settings.

is there a *printable* reference of PowerShell commands and other admin utils?

lastly. Why isn't there a dedicated forum for Server admins?

 

hyper-v virtual battery not working on windows server

Hyper-V has a virtual battery / battery passthrough for Hyper-V which is very helpful is detected on windows 10. I have a powerful laptop (more like portable desktop) that's running windows server. Virtual battery does not work when creating a VM on windows
server 2019 Hyper-V. But works when I create a VM in windows 10 on the same laptop. Is it possible to enable this feature, or request it be added to windows server's hyper V?
