Deleting old games from previous windows install - Windows 10 Xbox App

    Hi,

I have hundreds of gigs on different harddrives locked by "Windows Apps" from games installed by Xbox game app.

Some of them are from a previous install, some of them are installs which have failed and after changing harddrive location.

Taking "Ownership" of the folder does not help. I can then access the folder and see contents, but not delete.

In the "Rights" couloumn under "Security" it gives me an error if I try to enable "Write" access.

I see old posts2019 with no answers complaining about the same.

Do I really need to format my harddrive to remove old GAMES installs, thats quite incredible.
If the Xbox Game app could detect them, that would have been fine, but there doesnt seem to be an option for "Searching" for previously installed games.

    Thanks.

    :)

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Deleting old games from previous windows install - Windows 10 Xbox App ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

  3. Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

    Windows 10 installing progs

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to windows 10 from 7. I used the Media Creation Tool from MS website. It took awhile, but I am finally running Windows 10 (12-14).

I opened the new App & Program feature to remove programs that I no longer needed. Scrolling down the list, I was horrified! Apps that I didn't install somehow magically installed themselves. Two programs stood out: Facebook and Candy Crush Soda Saga. Both programs have those tale-tale icons that they came from Windows Store (which I've never even opened). The install date for both of them were on 12-26.

Is this a common thing for Windows 10? Or is it because I did an upgrade and not a clean install?
