    I have a cumulative KBxx.. update that refuses to be installed. Numbers don't matter for my question, which is a more general one.


    Quite often the advice is to run dism and/or sfc. Also, it is often recommended to empty theSoftwareDistribution folder.

    Another advice is to run the local Windows Update troubleshooter or online one.


    My question is to what degree the Windows Update troubleshooter overlaps with the other steps. I always assume that the recommended steps dism. sfc, emptying SoftwareDistribution are integrated into the Windows Update troubleshooter?


    Can anyone conform what it is the Windows Update troubleshooter actually DOES?
