  1. My Windows 10 Home upgraded itself to Windows 10 Enterprise and now won't activate

    Hi everyone,

I need help with a Windows Activation issue.

    I am not a computer/IT expert.

3 days ago 13 Jan 2021, after the latest Windows Update, a transparent message started appearing at the bottom right of my computer screen saying: Activate Windows. Go to Settings to activate Windows.

I followed the activation procedure, but activation failed. It’s presenting me with the following error message instead:

We can't activate your copy of Windows. Try connecting to the internet and try again.

I am always connected to the internet via fibre broadband.

The Activation Settings under Update and Security, show the following information:

    Edition: Windows 10 Enterprise

    Activation: Windows is not activated

We can’t activate Windows on this device because our activation servers aren’t available at the moment. Make sure that you’re connected to the internet and we’ll automatically try to activate Windows when the service becomes available. Error Code : 0x80072EE

The information also states that this copy of Windows 10 Enterprise was installed on 19 Dec 2020. That makes no sense. I’m an ordinary home user who uses the PC for ordinary stuff like checking emails, watching Youtube, browsing the internet. I live by myself and am the only person with access to this device. I’ve never needed, and have certainly never installed Windows 10 Enterprise on my computer. I’ve been using an activated copy of Windows 10 Home since September 2015. Where did Windows 10 Enterprise come from? Besides, if indeed Windows 10 Enterprise was installed on 19 Dec 2020, why haven't I seen the activation message before?

    Help please.

How do I revert back to Windows 10 Home?

    OR

How do I activate this current Windows copy?

    Thank you all in advance.

    KC.

    :)

    Windows 10 Activation (Insider)

Like Pill Monster said no more Windows 10 keys for Insiders. It was on Microsoft Blog they said that all that stuff is tied to one machine. You can upgrade anytime but never make a clean install. Those people who upgraded from 7 or 8.1 to 10 can do a clean install of RTM and post-RTM builds. A friend of mine upgraded from RTM to 10533 or whatever the latest post-RTM build is (and it activated just fine).

After all MS isn't stupid to give Windows 10 for free.

From Why can't I activate Windows?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

    • Go to Start
My Windows 10 Home upgraded itself to Windows 10 Enterprise and now won't activate [IMG]
, then select Settings > Update & security > Activation.
    • Select Go to Store, and check to see if a valid license is available for your device. If a license isn't available, you'll need to buy Windows from the Store.

      Note
      • This only applies if you haven't made changes to the hardware for your device.

or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack
