  1. My mouse clicks stop registering after sign in, or shortly after accessing the home screen.

My stats: My OS build is 19041.685 I just bought a new mouse for my pc, a Corsair Dark Core SE, and I wanted to try it out. So I start up my pc, which worked perfectly fine yesterday, and plug it in. I sign in as usual, and I open up iCue, then the mouse stops working. It moves the cursor fine, and the scroll wheel works, but clicking any of the three buttons does not register. I have both mice plugged in and neither of them work.

It's not a hardware issue, it's 100% software. For some reason, I can even still click when I open up the options menu for ctrl-atl-delete! But once I open up task manager and go back to the home screen, clicks stop registering again everywhere but the task manager window. I can't open my windows button screen by clicking, nor any applications.

I have discord, Origin, and Steam downloaded which automatically run on startup. If that makes a difference. I have tried putting my pc to sleep, then signing back in, I have tried restarting it, and I have tried a full shut down, even switching off the power supply after making sure the pc is properly shut down (I can use my keyboard perfectly fine). I even tried booting with just one mouse plugged in, and that didn't change anything either. It has made no difference. I'm not sure where to begin my proper troubleshooting, so I thought I'd ask here first, to see if anyone else has had this issue and solved it.

  2. Issues with the On screen keyboard and mouse pointer.

    Hi Robert,

The issues with the mouse may arise due to driver conflicts and the issue related to the On Screen keyboard may be when the settings for the OSK are turned on.

For the On screen keyboard issue, I suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Type Ease of Access on the search bar.

    • Choose Ease of Access and click on
Use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard option.

    • Check if the Type using a pointing device is turned on.

    • You may uncheck that option if it is turned on.
    Also try the below steps:

    • Press Windows key + R and type
      Services.msc
      .

    • Scroll down to find the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service".

    • Disable the option by right clicking on it.
    For the Mouse issue:

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Hardware
    and
    Devices.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

    6. Check if issue persists.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

Mouse not registering all clicks and sensitivity dropping

    Hi,

This issue likely occurs if the driver needs to be updated. Since you recently purchased and installed a new mouse, it's possible that the necessary driver for it is not yet installed, or the driver might be incompatible or corrupted. We'd like to know the
following so we can better assist you.

    • What's the make and model of your mouse?
    • Is the issue the same with a different mouse?
    • Are you experiencing the same issue when connecting the mouse on a different device?

Meanwhile, to troubleshoot your mouse issue, we suggest running the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. It will try to identify and resolve the issue automatically. To do so, please refer to these steps:

    • From the Start menu, type troubleshooting and press
      Enter.
    • Under Hardware and Sound, click Configure a device and then click
Next. Wait for the scan to be completed.

Afterwards, if the issue persists, we recommend updating the mouse driver.
If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try checking for one on your device manufacturer's website.

Get back to us with the result.
