    Hello!

I’m a pretty tech savvy person, which is why I decided to take on this task. I’m primarily a Mac user (I’m a graphic designer) but can work cross-platform (my day job keeps me on a machine running Win7 and I use a VM on that computer for a system running what looks like Win95 lol).

Anyway, my bf’s computer (2010 build) took a shit when the HDD failed. I went and bought a SSD and a cable to try and get the files off the old failed drive. This morning, I found a great step-by-step article on FreeCodeCamp on how to make a bootable ISO on a Mac to use on a Windows machine. I made one and brought everything to his house and got to work.

It’s been four hours and I’m not 100% sure why the computer won’t read/boot from the USB. I even went to Walmart to buy a new USB drive, thinking the one I used wasn’t good.

I went into the BIOS and made sure the boot was in order (USB first, then SSD), my USB drives have been formatted to FAT32 and now exFAT. All I’m getting is a blinking cursor. I watched a few videos to make sure I wasn’t missing anything and I seem to be doing things correctly. Can someone help me?

What I can tell you is my first mistake was making the bootable’s architecture x64. Based on the computer’s specs, it should have been x32, so I’ve since corrected that. It’s still giving me a blinker. I could really use some help!

    Multi-bootable USB

Hey guys from TPU, couldn't find any specific thread pertaining to the question asked on title. As mentioned, I'm trying to create a bootable USB, but with many specifics boots available.

I've been trying to create one with multiple boot device including one that enables me to run Windows 10 directly on the USB Thumb Drive but to no avail.

The list of bootable images i'm trying to create are

    1. Windows 10 (A full OS running from thumb drive)
    2. Windows 10 ISO (Bootable disk image for fresh install)
    3. MemTest86+

Have tried YUMI or UUI from the website USB PenDrive Linux but as this is my first time, i don't know how am i screwing up or am doing it right.. Anyone got a rough idea on a step by step guide? Thanks!

    Bootable Vista Installer

I have a friend who has a Vista Home Premium key (from the bottom of his laptop) and his HDD crapped out so he ordered a new one. His repair disks didn't work and neither of us have CD's with a large enough capacity to store the files we 'found' on the interwebz, so I'm trying to install it from a bootable USB.

I got up to the step where I successfully turned the USB into an active partition, but I ran into a problem the moment I needed to access the boot sector.

Can someone kindly walk me through the steps?
