Windows 10: January 12, 2021—KB4598242 OS Builds 19041.746 and 19042.746 -Failed to install on...

Hello,


I have attempted to install KB4598242 a great many times over the past few days. It results with error 0x800f0923.


I tried just about everything I could find to resolve the failed update, but nothing is working. Upon restart, I get BSOD. After the third auto restart, its goes to the Startup menu and not Recovery. Selecting F4 from Startup clears the update, and Windows boots. But soon thereafter, the update is pushed again and I go back to BSOD, Startup Menu, F4, boot, update, to BSOD repeatedly.


I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help?


BTW: when I try to update to Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2, I get error 0x800f0923 also. I read on one sight, this could be an incompatible driver issue?

Update went without a hitch, but the File History bug is still there

Got 4GB to clean up.

It seems, for the moment, that everything is working.

The installation took time and stopping at 74% for a long time with no signs of life (if you can say so) of the hard drive, so much so that I feared the worst, but then everything went fine.
