Windows 10: Network Computer - Local User Account is not seen in Users folder

I have 2 Windows 10 Pro computers:

- one is Surface Pro version 2004

- one is Dell Venue Pro version 20H2


When accessing either computer on the network, the "Users" folder does not show the user's local account.


For example: The account "hjhop" is not seen. Same thing occurs when accessing the Dell.




The Advanced Sharing Settings are properly set on each computer.

The services for Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication are running and automatic.

Local Acct user and MS account user - sync them or merge them

If the local account is the one where you have most of your personal data, this is how I would do it:

• Sign in to your Microsoft account
  
• Copy all documents, pictures and other personal data from Microsoft account's user folders to corresponding folders in user Public (contents of MS account Documents folder to Public Documents folder and so on)
• Sign out from Microsoft account

Notice that above steps are only required if Microsoft account user folders contain data you want to keep. If its user folders are empty or do not contain anything worth saving, you can skip the above steps. Continue from below.

• Sign in to the local account
  
• Delete the Microsoft account (Option One in this tutorial)
• Switch your local account to a Microsoft account (tutorial)
• Copy the data backed up from old Microsoft account to Public folders to new Microsoft account in corresponding folders

That's it. Using the Public folders as temporary storage you will have none whatsoever file owner / permission issues later on.

Local vs Network user accounts

I do not understand what you mean my local account connected to MS account. You are either using a local account or an MS account.

Also, the mobo hardware id is more complicated than just the mobo serial id afaik. MS have always kept formula for it secret for obvious reasons. I know it is something like 50 digits.



Login with local account, and it does not say licence is linked with MS account. Device is not present in your MS account list.

Login with MS account and it does show in list. Change to local account and device is removed.

You are also presupposing users have made a note if serial number if indeed that is correct number. How would you get it if mobo fails?
Of course, I accept possibility that MS have changed things. I will test further.
