  1. Event ID 41 Kernel-Power BSOD and Event ID 161 volmgr with various Errors and Warnings

    Hi,

Since purchasing a PC in October last year I've been having various issues resulting in BSOD. Usually this happens randomly while playing a Game or in an application. Latest BSOD have resulted from maximising a window while using Citrix viewer used to logon to my workplace and playing Planet Zoo when trying to start a new scenario. I have had BSOD also in other games and applications whilst just using/playing e.g. World of Warcraft or when changing settings.

The errors on reboot are always the same:

    1. Critical: Event ID 41 - Kernel-Power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

    2. Error: Event ID 161 - volmgr "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation."

    3. Error: Event ID 6008 - EventLog "The previous system shutdown at 14:55:37 on ‎18/‎01/‎2021 was unexpected."

There are also several Warnings and Errors leading up to this in the Event Viewer.

From browsing various forums for the same error it seems that the dump file will help to investigate what has caused this issue, however no Dump files are being created I assume this is because of the second error.

Any ideas on how to resolve the dump file issue so the shutdown problem can be investigated?

    Thanks

    Simon

    :)

  2. Kernel-Power event id 41. BugcheckCode 0

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In-order to get more clarity on this issue and to assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, reply with answers to the below questions:

    1. Are you aware of any changes made on your PC, prior to this issue?
    2. Is this issue specific while playing a particular game?
    3. Which edition of Windows are you currently using?

A Kernel Power Event 41 can occur in the following scenarios.

Scenario 1: The computer restarts, and there is a Stop error BugcheckCode in the event data.

Scenario 2: The computer is shut down by pressing and holding the power button.

Scenario 3: The system randomly restarts and no Stop error BugcheckCode is listed, or the computer is completely unresponsive (hard hang).

I suggest you refer the article on Kernel
    Power Event ID 41
and follow the steps for the scenario that is causing this error on your PC.

Additionally, you can refer the article on Windows
Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows

    and check if that helps.

  3. System Rebooting - Event ID 41 & Event ID 161

    Hello,

My system has started rebooting without BSOD randomly, but usually when playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider or other programs that have the PC under load. Today, it did it when trying to open a system information viewer program when nothing else was running.

The CPU and other components are within proper thermal limits, I've tested memory multiple times with no faults, tested all drives, and ran the DISM tool and SFC with no errors reported. The machine was built a few months ago but the power supply is from
a previous build (2015). I suspect it may be the cause.

There is little information in the Event Viewer but seems to consistently contain the 2 problems at time of reboot:

    Error

    Source: volmgr

    Event ID: 161

    Critical

    Source: Kernal-Power

    Event ID 41

    Bugcheck Code 201

Please let me know what additional information you need to troubleshoot this problem.

    Thank you!
