  1. British english as display language but hidden from the language menu

Hi I recently downloaded windows 10 for my pc and I'm still trying to get through some settings and change them depending on what I like. One of them which I can't seem to find the answer online is if I can have my display language set to (i.e. british english) but "hiding it" from the language menu when I press win + spacebar to cycle through my downloaded languages. All that just because I don't like pressing the spacebar two times when changing from italian (where I'm from) to english but only one when changing from english to italian. Thank you

Tooltips displayed in the wrong language

Although my version of Windows is set to English and the GPU-Z "Tooltip Language" appears as "System Default (English (United Kingdom))", the tooltips are appearing in the language corresponding to my system locale (or possibly keyboard layout), not the actual system language. I frequently change the keyboard layout and date format (to match the clients I'm working for and the language I'm writing in), but the system language never changes (and software is supposed to run in that language).

I can manually select "English (United States)", but this basically makes it impossible for me to select the "correct" language (i.e., UK English), because it doesn't appear in the list (other than as "system default" - but is then ignored). Obviously it makes no difference to me if it's in UK or US English, but people with other language combinations might have a problem.

It seems the routine that populates the language list in the options is (correctly) determining the system language, but the routine that actually generates the tooltips is (incorrectly) reading the system locale instead of language.

Applying (British) language pack - CU

Hi, after I upgraded to the CU a few weeks ago, I noted that the GUI was US English, but I had had British English applied when using the Anniversary Update.

In Settings it looked as if the UK pack was still installed. I removed it, set US English as default, restarted.

I've tried to reapply the British English pack several times, and it almost appears as if that's succeeded- Settings shows it as default.

However: I see 'Airplane Mode' not 'Flight Mode' in the Action Centre, Color Management not Colour Management in the control Panel.

    ========================================
When I first look at Settings, Region & Language, I see
'Searching Windows Update' briefly under English (United Kingdom).

In the Control Panel, Language Options I see

British english as display language but hidden from the language menu [IMG]

This suggests it's not really downloading the language pack.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

(Oh- obscurely Photos, Edit -> Colour)

Here you can see it appears available in Settings, but Control Panel shows the 'truth'..

How do you change Word 2016's Display language?

(Note that I am referring to the Display language, not the keyboard language.)

I have configured the default language in a Windows 10 Pro user profile to Spanish (Mexico). It's working fine. All Start menu text is in Spanish and even Chrome displays everything in Spanish.

But when I run Word 2016 all of its menus are in English. In Word Options > Language the editing language is set to default to Spanish (Mexico). Under "Choose Display and Help Languages" the default is "Match Microsoft Windows," which suggests to me that all Word menus should be in Spanish, just like Chrome and Windows are doing. A second, greyed out choice is English.

The very last sentence on this Options page is says, "View display languages installed for each Microsoft Office program. Click on it and a table appears. Word and Outlook are listed. Under the "Office Display Language" is English for both. Nothing appears in the "Other Display Languages". I see no option to add another display language.

Earlier versions of Office had downloadable Language packs but I can't find one for Office 2016, not even in the volume license downloads.

I've tried this on two W10Pro Ofc2016 computers and get the same results in both. What step or trick am I missing?
