  1. explorer.exe Class not registered appears and start, search button are not responding.

My taskbar is not working properly.

There are start menu, search, cortana, task view, mail, edge, chrome, office, windows terminal, explorer, task manager on my taskbar.

Start menu, search, cortana, task view are not responding.

mail, office are giving error massage, 'explorer.exe Class not registered'

    These errors start to appear after rebooting to see result of powershell command Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml”}

I needed that command because there was problem opening several Windows apps like Paint 3d, Picture viewer, Video, etc.

Window tasks done today, in chronological order

    1. latest Window update has been performed.

    2. confirmed Paint 3D and other windows app not opening problem.

    3. sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

    4. performed media creation tool and checked latest windows update.

    5. the problem was not resolved, so I triedGet-AppxPackage ... AppXManifest.xml”} command.

    6. taskbar is not working and Class not registered error occurs after reboot.

OS version : Windows 10 Pro 20H2 build 19042 after the update.

    :)

  3. Class not registered for explorer

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you receive Class not registered error. We will help you to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Press “Windows key + R” to get the run window.

    • Type “services.msc” and hit ok to open the services window.
Scroll down to find “Internet Explorer ETW Collector Service” and ensure to have this service started and check if this helps.

I also suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Perform System File Check (SFC), and then check if this fixes the issue.

    1. Press the Windows button + X on your keyboard, a mini dialogue box will appear.

    2. Choose Command Prompt (Admin). You must run the command prompt in Administrator level.

    3. On the command prompt type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

    4. If everything went okay and no errors were found, restart your computer and see if the issue re-occurs.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

    Explorer.exe Class Not Registered

    Hi Karthik,

The "Class not registered" error is usually related to software conflicts. We suggest that you disable Internet Explorer through Windows Features and check if it helps. It is known to resolve the issue for most users as seen in
    this thread.

Here's how to turn off Internet Explorer:

    • Open Control Panel, and then go to Programs
      and Features.
    • On the left pane, click on Turn Windows features on or off.
    • Uncheck Internet Explorer, and then click
      OK
      .

Let us know how it turns out.
