Windows 10: Computer keeps waking up from sleep, cannot seem to find solution

Hello there,

It seems that ever since the most recent update a few days ago, my computer keeps waking up from sleep for no reason. I leave my computer on 24/7 and it's really irritating to have the monitor n everything turn back on every hour, sometimes more frequently.

powercfg -lastwake = Wake History Count - 0

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed = NONE

powercfg/waketimers = StartMenuExperienceHost.exe (and a bunch of other text i cannot seem to copy)

Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> System: sometimes shows this happening at the same time the computer turns back on, but not all the time:

Level: Warning

Source: DistributedCOM

Event ID: 10016



This is driving me crazy, what else can be done?

computer wake-up after sleep

Hi Bill,

There's a possibility that the settings that enables your Space bar to wake your computer up from sleep was reset after updating Windows. If this what had happened, we suggest that you just re-set it up. See the steps below on how to do
so:

• Press Windows key and type keyboard in.
• Click on Keyboard option and a pop-up windows should show up.
• From there, go to > Hardware tab > Properties >
  Change settings > Power management > Allow this device to wake the computer >
  OK/Apply.

Try the if the steps did work and let us know any updates.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

Logon screen keeps on appearing after waking up the computer from sleep - Windows 10

Hi,

This is actually the first thing we tried. The computer comes up with a message saying:

"Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. To change this go to setttings and search for Power and Sleep."

The dropdown box underneath is greyed out, and inactive.

Going to Power and Sleep leads to your first suggestion, which is a dead end.
