    Got 2 BSoDs today, and both seem to be due to iffy drivers. How would I go about...


    Been having some computer issues for a bit now. Had a BSoD earlier this month, but I chalked it up to Windows just having a bad day. Today, though, I got 2 in the span of two hours, and the searching I've done points to it probably being a driver problem.

    The stops I've gotten have been APC_INDEX_MISMATCH and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.


    I don't know where to go from here to fix this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    BSOD- atikmpag.sys

    This is most likely due to an installation/upgrade error with ATI driver's. I suggest doing DriveSweeper and the following:
    • Drivesweeper all drivers & in Safe Mode
    • Unistall all drivers that aren't used in DriveSweeper (CCC Profiler Updates, MSI AfterBurner, anything related to ATI that use's it's drivers.)
    • After you do this, the first thing you need to do is go into Device Manager and Unistall your ATI Drivers

    Once your done, restart the PC and then try installing the latest drivers.


    I had several issues with this in the past, but I overcame it with logical reasoning and whenever I have a driver issue, I just use these steps and I always overcome the problem.

    I am sorry to know that you are facing issues with ‘BSOD driver IRQL not less or equal’. This could be due to driver issue. I suggest you to update the drivers by visiting manufacturer's website and check if that helps.

    Update the drivers for this device

    To do this, follow these steps:

    1. In Device Manager, click the Driver tab in the device's Properties dialog box.

    2. Click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard.

    3. Follow the instructions to update the driver.

    If the issue persist I would suggest you to install the latest driver in compatibility mode and check if issue persist.

    Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

    1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

    2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

    3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

    4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

    5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

    Random BSOD, started happening today

    Just did all the steps. I suppose there's no way to tell if that solved the issue without using and waiting to see if another BSOD occurs, so I will come back later in case anything happens.
