Macrium Reflect Free 7.3 imaged to USB flash drive produced six files

I've just built a dual-boot machine with Windows 10 (20H2) and Linux (Elementary OS 5.0), and it occurred to me that Reflect (7.3 Free) could probably image that drive including the ext4 partition containing Elementary OS and (I hope) the GRUB bootloader (wherever it resides). The only thing I had handy on which to write a test image was a 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive. Reflect completed the imaging but when I looked at the flash drive, I found five numbered files of 4,194.263 KB and one of 770,001 KB.

So it looks like Reflect saw removable media, assumed it was a DVD drive, and wrote multiple DVD-sized files instead of a single image file, and my questions are:

    1) Can anyone confirm that Reflect WILL correctly image that dual-boot drive?

    2) Is there a Reflect setting that will cause the program to write the image on the flash drive as a single file instead of as multiple files? I did look but didn't see any settings that looked promising.

    :)

Macrium Reflect Free - USB can't start to install

    1. Install Macrium Refelct Free on the tablet.
    2. Create the Macrium Reflect rescue USB flash drive using the option to do so when you run the installed Macrium Reflect program. This requires a small USB flash drive by itself - 2 GB for this is fine.
    3. Perform a backup image of the tablet onto a second USB flash drive. This flash drive will have to be 32 GB or larger to hold the image.

    When you need to restore:

    1. Boot the tablet from the small Macrium Reflect rescue USB flash drive, it will boot directly into Macrium Reflect Free.
    2. Replace the small Macrium Reflect rescue USB flash drive with the flash drive that contains the backup image. Just do this with the tablet on and Macrium Reflect running on it.
    3. Restore the image on the USB flash drive to the tablet's "hard drive".

The tablet doesn't really have a hard drive. It has 32 GB of memory that simulates a hard drive.

You are confusing the rescue program with the backup image. The rescue program is what you boot the tablet into in order that you can restore the backup image that is stored separately from the rescue program.

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.

Unable to use System restore from a windows 10 image on Windows 7 with error: "windows cannot find a system image-the usb drive is not visible"

    Hi Otley,

Thanks for replying to us with the status of your issue.

As you mentioned, when you connect the USB flash drive in to the system then the System image backup is not present. It might occur if the System image files is not created properly or may be it got corrupted.

As an initial steps I suggest you to check for the memory space in the USB flash driver.

If the Memory is occupied in the USB flash drive the I suggest you to try running check disk on USB flash drive and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps to perform Check Disk.

    • Press Windows + X on your keyboard.

    • Select Command Prompt (Admin).

    • Type the below commands.

      Chkdsk [drive letter]: /f /r

Reply to us with the status of your issue, we will be happy to assist you.
