  1. Windows keep forcing unwanted update

About 18 months ago or so an update came out that is breaking something on my laptop. I cant adjust the volume through mixer, its either all the way or off. I have redownloaded driver, checked bios, etc. I can't tell you how many hours I spent trying to fix it and googling the solution but I never could. No biggie I just rolled back to previous update, disable update downloads and forgot about it for 17 months or so.

Windows is now giving me warning that I'll no longer be supported, blah blah blah. It keep automatically downloading the update even though I have it turned off in the settings. I went as far as going into services and trying to permanently disable all windows checks for updates but it doesn't matter. So, I'm currently stuck with every hour an alert popping up giving me 3 options: wait an hour, restart now, or restart next downtime or some shit. SO basically I have to click wait an hour every hour. Anyone have any idea what tot do here?

    Windows 10 forced download

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.

How to remove unwanted OEM Windows driver or app updates

This became worse and worse over the last 1-2 years. MS did more and more to remove the possibility for users to remove driver updates or Apps which are pushed through Windows Update for devices, especially for laptops. This then includes tons of unwanted Software, Touchpad, Sound, OEM apps, ect. Or just Intel iGPU or Nvidia GPU drivers, which are old OEM builds for example by Dell. This then includes services and UWP apps too.

In the beginning, you could easily disable driver updates through control panel system. This doesnt work anymore since over a year now. I am not sure if this is a bug, or MS secretly deactivated the functionality.

Then they also removed the specific driver and OEM app updates from the Update list, most updates are not listed anymore in the installed update list, you cant remove them anymore after Windows installed them.

wushowhide.diagcab doesnt work too anymore 100%. Most driver updates you flag with them are ignored and Windows still installs them. Most OEM app updates are not even listed to hide.

I had so many issues over the past months on my Dell XPS laptop, because of Windows just pushes and forces broken drivers or apps through Windows Update, and then even ROLLS back drivers. I have literally no control anymore over my PCs.

    Here is an example:

These forced OEM app updates are not listed in the Updates to remove list. These driver updates are forced through even you deactivated the functionality in several ways. That yellow flagged Intel Media SDK, for example, is broken since weeks and Windows tries to install it everyday and fails.

How do I remove for example the unwanted OEM app "Waves - SoftwareComponent - 5/15/2018 12:00:00 AM" which runs as a service in the background all the time I dont want. Same as "9NB9SRTL2KPT-WavesAudio.WavesMaxxAudioProforDell".

This is just unbelievable. There has to be a way to deactivate this out of control nonsense. And also remove the already installed updates.

    Windows keep forcing unwanted update

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Windows keep forcing unwanted update :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
