  1. Windows 10 Locked up after login from booting PC

So what is Windows 10 doing after you login after booting up? My system is absolutely locked up with what looks like solid disk utilization judging from the disk activity light on the case, no response to clicking the mouse on something or using the Windows key on the keyboard. Forget launching Task Manager to see what's running. This lasts about 3 to 4 minutes then everything is okay. My system has a fresh installation and is running the OS off of a new Samsung 860 EVO SSD. It has a 6 core CPU and 24 GB of memory.

Even better, how do I make it stop?

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Lock vs Login screen screenshot

    Hi Josey -

Thanks for the quick reply. While your suggestion does change the sign in process, it doesn't address the differing screenshot question. Following the steps doesn't make the login screenshot the same as the Lock screenshot. As I mentioned, I can't even find the screenshots being used for both screens.

Still looking a solution to this. Open to any other suggestions you might have to the problem. Thanks!

    Lock vs Login screen screenshot

You can use your own image of any background and just go to settings/personalize/lock screen and click on browse as in the image below. It should make whatever picture you use as the Lock Screen
