Windows 10: greyed out icons after file transfer from mac and external drives?

Hi everyone. I'll just explain whats going on here:

I finally managed to borrow a mac so I can extract data from a mac-only-format external HDD. I'm copying all the files to the mac from the HDD (around 2TB of data, mostly music) then copying bit-by -bit with a 32GB USB to my pc. Once everything is copied to the PC I will format the HDD to FAT32.

When I open the contents of the USB stick on my Windows 10 PC, I notice that many files have duplicate files that are greyed-out and only a few KB each. I don't notice anything unusual on mac.

So what is going on here? Obviously I want to be extra sure that all the files are transferred intact before I format the HDD. The non-greyed files seem to be ok... I tested some of the audio files and noticed no errors, but I don't have time to test it all.

I just want to know: What is going on? What do greyed-out files in Windows 10 mean? Can I just delete the greyed-out files and forget about them? If I want to be extra safe should I do the process again but doing something different?

Old Mac formatted photo files need to be opened on my PC.

The files themselves are jpeg, tiff, or psd, but the external drive itself was formatted for Mac. When I set up the external drive it asked whether
to format for Mac or PC. When I attach the External Drive to my PC, the icons for the files showed up on the screen but when I click to open the file
is "not readable". When I took it to a shop, the guy saw the icons on the PC screen and assumed it was ok I guess.

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Reading Mac files on external hard drive via Windows 10

So the Paragon software was a waste of $20 bucks and it resolved nothing. RossmanRepairGroup.com repaired my MacBook Pro which I am using right now... the ? remains.... How can i transfer my files from mac to PC? I borrowed my girlfriend's
PC and I searched the net and I was able to download a program called Fat32Formatter... very simple file you just unzip and run. it doesn't even install anything on your computer. The format of the external hard drive took 30 hours... BUT.... I now have 1
TB of Fat32!! So it was well worth the wait... just leave it running until it is done. I have transferred all my music, pics, etc to my external drive from the mac and i was able to access and USE those same files on my girl's PC (which is Windows 8 btw) .....
In summary: I was never ab;e to get the PC to read from a Mac format HFS drive. I needed both the Mac and a PC to get the job done. Just get a hard drive formatted as FAT32 and you can plug it into a Mac, get your files and plug it into a PC... and you're
