Windows 10: Change the colour of a tile in the start menu?

Hey,

So I tried to pin the Elite Dangerous launcher to my start menu, turns out to be white or very light grey, which breaks the entire grey / dark scheme I have going on. I tried creating an 'EDLaunch.VisualElementsManifest.xml'

with these parameters;

<Application xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <VisualElements BackgroundColor="#4c4a48" ShowNameOnSquare150x150Logo="on" ForegroundText="light"/> </Application>

Unpinned it, removed it from the start menu folder, removed the IconCache.db, restarted, repinned it but it keeps showing up as white.

Anything I'm missing in the above sequence or is there another way of changing the colour of a single tile?

Thanks for your speedy reply and advice. That's unfortunate. I found 8.1 far superior to windows 7. I accept that windows 10 is meant to be the best of both worlds with some great improvements and tweeks, but these changes become inadequacies when they
don't give you choice. One step forward, half a step back.... I liked the bright different coloured tiles on 8.1.

Having all the tiles be the same colour blue (other than a few Bing or Xbox related ones) is pretty boring.

Now even all the apps in Microsoft office are the same colour blue as well.

It would be much more fun being able to colour co-ordinate your favourites! or different groups of tiles windows apps one colour, nero another colour, Office another colour etc.

If anyone comes up with a solution to allow tile colour to be determined by the users please let me know.

What's happen when you try to change colour and select the new colour tile? Do you get any message or just does not change colour?

how do i reset the start menu in windows 10 to not show tiles?

A few days ago, my friends Win10 computer stopped showing his desktop and now only shows the tiles (he wants to see the default list of programs, not any tiles).

Clicking on the Windows key or "start menu" doesn't change anything. I stepped him through some online suggestions (including Settings/Start/Use-start-full-screen and making sure Settings/Table-mode was not engaged) but they don't work.

I've also compared his settings (Start/Use-start-full... and Table-mode) to my Win10 machine and they are the same.

Assistance/suggestions would be appreciated.
