  1. Copy all cloud only files from onedrive

I foolishly thought I could use the space I got with office to move files off my HD to the onedrive cloud. To do this was not intuitive, but I finally did it. Now, I can't manage the files on the cloud in any normal way ... search/sort/copy/rename/move - even get a directory list of files seems completely either impossible or extremely cumbersome, unless I action one of thousands file at a time.

I'm really, really sick of onedrive. I don't like it as a collaborative tool I can't EASILY share folders with my Microsoft Family for common storage, I don't like it as a back up tool where IS my back up file?, and it is a terrible choice for cloud storage. I want to get all my files off the onedrive cloud to an external HD.

Specifically, I want to copy all the files in the ondedrive cloud - more than I can store on my HD - to a local external drive. How do I copy from cloud to external drive without using my hard drive as a pass through? How do I do this in a systemic way, without having to select file by file?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Using OneDrive as cloud storage only - no local copies

Would you please excuse me and allow me to step in here. Reason is that I am / was looking an answer on the same question.

Correct me if I am wrong and probably I am...
So far I have understood that files that are stored within OneDrive are in fact copies of local files, i.e. files in the cloud are also stored within the OneDrive folder on C:\ taking valuable SSD space..

Considering this (wrong?) idea the 1TB OneDrive space (that comes Office 365) can't be used together with 512GB SSD (nett 470GB, less Windows, applications and some Windows there is not so much space left.

Uploading 2-300GB would not fit anymore then...

  3. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

Actually it is local files mirrored to your Cloud Drive. If you need more space, you are going to have to use either a external drive on your network or a bigger drive in your computer. If you stop syncing to your local folder, you will have to use just the OneDrive Cloud folder and will risk losing any data if you lose connection, while working with a file.
