  1. UEFI disabled in setup and cannot find disabling fast boot for starting from recovery...

    Dear community,

due to the recent bug with chkdsk /f and trying to run recovery, my Lenovo Yoga C940 is in a state where it always loads to this stage:

However, after selecting the USB, the computer still shows the error message shown above. So for some reason, I cannot even run the recovery of the system. Is there anything I can do to get it running again?

I am aware that this is an issue with proposed solutions. However, these always involve creating a recovery drive so I did that and selected the USB from this screen:

As said, even when starting from the recovery USB I cannot get to the windows menu for resetting or repairing the PC.

I received some initial help in this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-2bbe-4234-9d0d-8f9009f7fefd?tm=1611389671223 and he recommended me to look into

    1. Check whether UEFI is disabled in Setup

    2. Turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup

Regarding 1, I don't think this is the case, but maybe you can help me check from the screenshots from my UEFI manager.
Regarding 2, I don't see these options in the UEFI manager. How could I do this?

    Thanks for your help!

Can't disable UEFI boot on HP 250 G3

There is literally not something UEFI allows. If those options do exist they likely just disable all the boot options under the UEFI boot section, but you can't entirely disable UEFI booting.

If you really must, just disable every option under the UEFI section in the BIOS.

  3. Can't disable UEFI boot on HP 250 G3

    Yes u can.

Gimme a sec and I'll post a link to some info.

Boot to UEFI Mode or Legacy BIOS mode

See the bottom paragraph where it states:
Use the GPT file format for UEFI mode, or the MBR file format for BIOS mode. When Windows Setup runs, if the PC is booted to the wrong mode, Windows will fail to install.

The legacy/UEFI options in the OP's bios is the equivalent of CSM.

Can't disable UEFI boot on HP 250 G3

I got it, I was not accustomed to UEFI (because on HP 4540s I disabled it) and I automatically thought that if I boot from the first menu it will boot in UEFI mode, but I have to go to second menu "Boot From EFI File" to get a list of EFI boot options:

I installed Ubuntu Mate and Windows 8.1 from the first menu (the picture) and they both installed in BIOS mode. Quite simple really.
