Windows 10: windows 10 home

My computer is using windows 10 home 64bit. When I place an CD for a new app and run it not a thing comes up on my screen. On my old windows 8.1 computer I would get a small windows asking me just what I would like to do with the app. This does not happen on my windows 10 computer so I do not know if the program has loaded or not. Using a different way I have loaded the program I think by looking at the downloads of which there are 6 0r 7 for the same item. When I click on one of these I get the icon for the program on my computer screen but it is gone after shutting down computer. Each time I click on one of the 7 items I must go thur several steps to get the program to work. When I click on the icon for the app on my desktop the program it seems to work. I think that autoplay is on for this computer. How can I get the computer to keep the icon for the app on the screen? Why does the computer not ask me questions when I try loading a new app? Please help??

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
