NAS private network disconnected and can't be reconnetced after update to WIN 10 20H2 or 20H1

The following is getting real urgent now since the update to 20H2 is forcing itself on to my notebook!

I have 3 NAS running in my private network:

1 D-Link ShareCenter DNS325, latest Firmware 1.05, no more update available

2 Iomega now Lenovo StorCenter ix2-200, latest Firmware 2.1.50.30227, no more update available,

    3 QNAP TS-251+, Firmware 4.5.1

I have updated 3 different PC’s to Windows 10 version 2004 and just a few days ago to Windows 10 version 2009. After the update the -under Win 10 version 1909- mapped network drives of the DNS325 and StorCenter ix2-200 which are much older than the QNAP TS-251+ won’t reconnect with either error “network path not found” or “the local device name is already in use”.

Essentially windows 10 version 2004 and 2009 do not recognize the 2 devices as NAS and they do not appear under “network”anymore. Under Win 10 version 1909 as well as all previous versions of windows everything ran fine.

I can however, access both NAS by using a browser and type in their internal network address 192.168.1.xxx.

I have applied the registry modification found under answers.microsoft.com Here is the instruction:

<<Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Network\Z or your drive letter, I deleted Z.

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Map Network Drive MRU and delete the entry, a, b, etc, for your drive.
Then add the following after remapping your drive or else it will fail to connect after a reboot or shutdown.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Network\Z]

    "ProviderFlags"=dword:00000001>>

Smbv1 is also enabled under “turn on / off windows features”.

It can't be right that Microsoft tries to force me to retire older NAS in my private network just because they are old.

I need a solution or an instruction for a workaround please!

    :)

  2. Ok to Install 20H2 without 20H1 present?

    I am running Windows 10 build 1909.

I have NOT installed update 20H1 yet.

Is it ok to go ahead and install 20H2, or am I supposed to manually install 20H1 first?

My PC is only offering 20H2, with the 20H1 offer disappearing recently.

    Windows 10 & NAS Box

    Hi Peter,

A few possible reasons can cause this issue. To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

    • How is your NAS box connected to your computer? (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or USB)
    • Are you using a program provided by the manufacturer of your NAS box to access it?
    • Do you receive any error messages when accessing your NAS box? If yes, what is the exact error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform the solution provided by omiklik (Most Helpful Reply)
in the following thread: Unable to see NAS drive on Network - Win 10 PC.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue, and we will be glad to assist you further.

NAS private network disconnected and can't be reconnetced after update to WIN 10 20H2 or 20H1

Updating to 20h1 without a fast stable connection

Hello--This year I did not have access to the better network with a fast stable connection so I lost out on using the MCT to get the 20h1 ISO file.

Last year on the better connection I saved the 19h1 ISO file in about 55 minutes. Then used Rufus to put on a Flash drive.

At this point only 20h2 can be saved with the MCT. On the connection I have now it was taking 3 hours and 10 mins to get to 65 percent. I figured at least another hour, then the Verify before it got saved to the location selected.

At that time while it was working on getting the ISO I found a notice stating that 20h1 had to be installed before the 20h2 ISO file could be use.

If the ISO files are complete versions, why can't the current 20h2 ISO be used to upgrade?

My notebook was up to date for 18363.1139 as of the 2020-10 Quality updates.

And Feature 20h1 was showing On Hold in the second section.

As of 10/30 20h1 moved from On Hold to the first section as available Pending D/L

And 20h2 appeared On Hold in the second section.
