    Finding Original Disk Signature

The title is exactly what I am having trouble with. I'm pretty sure this is the correct thread to post on. I apologize if it isn't. I changed the uniqueID of my boot drive without being aware of the consequences. When I went to reboot, the drive was not booting up properly. So, here I am trying to find the original disk ID so that I can use CMD prompt and Diskpart utility to restore the disks original ID. I contacted Windows customer service, but the guy in my chat was no help at all.
I read this article at first, using the instructions under the "Restoring a Disk Signature" section:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/arc...disk-signature
I tried going through the step by step instructions but got stuck at one specific part. It says to locate the BCD file under the \Boot directory, except I cannot find any such thing. Furthermore, the instructions are very unclear and hard to read (at least for me). I am so close to solving this issue. All I need is this one string of numbers and letters and my PC will be back in working order... anyone know of a way to access the BCD so that I can access the original disk signature/ID? Once I have this number, I know how to use Diskpart to restore the ID. Any and all help will be appreciated. I need a working PC for school...

For reference, this is the part of the article that I am stuck at:

  2. Cloning and disk signature collisions

I do both a clone of my C drive and an image backup.

On a couple of occasions I have had to boot the newly cloned drive and forgot to remove the original source drive.

This gives me Disk Signature collision which I think I understand.

What I'd like to do is change the disk signature of the original source drive which is a GPT SSD.

All the articles I've found on the net seem to suggest using diakpart which I have no problems using. Where I do have an issue is with determining how to provide a new disk signature.

What is the format of the GUID GPT disk signature?

How do I create a new disk signature? Is it just a string of random numbers?

If diskpart doesn't like the format or the actual id how do I create one that diskpart will accept.

    Thanks
