  1. Random app starts after running Cmder

This is really a strange issue. Basically, some random app opens up along with Cmder

if I remember correctly, the first time this happened the Settings app started. After that, I think it was Microsoft Store. And the third was Calculator.

Then it happened one more time with Calculator, and right after that with Microsoft News. But in this case it was two times in a row, as in:

    • (I had already started Cmder beforehand) I press Ctrl+ò to show Cmder, and Cmder shows up correctly
    • I press Ctrl+ò to minimize Cmder
    • Calculator starts running while Cmder is playing the minimize animation
    • Again, I press Ctrl+ò to show Cmder and it shows up correctly
    • I press Ctrl+ò to minimize Cmder
    • Microsoft News starts running

What's even more curious is the fact that I wasn't able to reproduce this, else I would've recorded it somehow. I guess it only (not always) happens after a fresh boot (also happened after resuming from sleep), and not exactly while running Cmder but when pressing Ctrl+ò (which is the minimize/restore hotkey, at least with my keyboard layout).

I understand pinning down the cause of this issue can be pretty hard. Some possibilities I can think of on the top of my head are:

    • I am inadvertently pressing some combination of keys, which runs the last used app or something (can't be right, or Calculator and Microsoft News would not have opened one after the other). Might be useful to consider I have a keyboard with Fn lock, and generally the lock is engaged (i.e. I need to keep Fn pressed in order to access the functions binded to the F keys);
    • Cmder is glitched, in which case I would expect I'm not the only one who has experienced this issue. Worth noting I've followed this guide to make Cmder more visually captivating: https://gist.github.com/jchandra74/5b0c94385175c7a8d1cb39bc5157365e

One more piece of info: this has never happened on a laptop running Windows 7. As far as I can tell, only Windows 10 is affected.

Let me know if you can help c:

I'll keep this post updated if I'm able to gather more infos.

  2. Cmder - how to add Windows 10 start menu tile?

Although you've solved this yourself, I thought I'd add a step that was preventing me from adding a Cmder shortcut to the start menu. I had forgotten to register it after I'd downloaded it. Per the Cmder GitHub README:

From there, add it as a shortcut the usual way (Right click > Pin to Start; or make a shortcut and copy it to %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu)

As an aside, forgetting this step had made it so the Sublime Text 3 package SendREPL was unable to send snippets to the terminal, which is how I finally managed to figure out what was going on
