Windows 10: File Explorer huge annoying problem PLEASE HELP

This started not too long ago, but this is a really annoying problem. When I open up file explorer, everything looks good. But when a click on, or right click it, it freezes the entire damn program. Then, my cursor has a busy hourglass icon! The only way to close it up is to hover over it in taskbar or restart it in Task Manager. When I right-click a folder, it does the same thing but then it resumes normally. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?? Please I've tried lots of stuff to get it to stop such as restarting it in task manager but nothing happens! If you have this problem or know how to fix it, please reply and let me know asap.

EDIT: This is also a problem but at times, it just resumes normally, but then it comes back again. idkwtf is going on

File Explorer annoying behavior

Windows 10 Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.8.36)

I'm new .. I've been looking through forum after forum and cannot find resolution to a specific problem. My job includes LOTS of email with attachments, and a couple of months ago, I began to notice annoying behavior that didn't occur previously.

When I save an attachment, an explorer window appears prompting me to select the save location. The navigation pane will automatically highlight the last directory I was using. However, if I scroll up or down, and expand a different directory, (not double click to show contents in file list, but expand +) then the navigation pane will jump back to the highlighted last used directory, which is often off screen, making me scroll back to where I want to be.

I've seen and tried history deletion suggestions such as registry settings, group settings, batch files, none seem to work for this specific problem, and I truly hate it when Windows wins and I lose. Does anyone have a solution to make Explorer quit jumping back to last used directory?

 

Windows Explorer crashes and thumbnails problem

Hi, I hope you can help me.
Windows Explorer is no longer showing thumbnails on files played by Windows Media Player. I've run cmd and regsvr32 shmedia.dll and regsvr32 shimgvw.dll. That seemed to solve the problem...but it created a different one. Now when I try to open a folder on an external hard drive it crashes. I read in an old 2008 post it was an avi file causing the problem and suggested the run cmd regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll. That solved the opening problem but recreated the thumbnail problem. Any help to achieve both functions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• Delete all the files.
• After deleting the files kindly try and see if there's a thumbnail preview of your files.
