Windows 10: WIN 10 20H2 update has moved applications and programs from one drive to another

Due to limited size of C: drive on my surface pro 128GB I had set it up so programs and applications would normally install to additional drive.

After upgrading to 20H2 from 1909 nearly all applications have moved from the "Program Files" and "Program Files x86" on the D: drive to the C: drive.

Why has this happened?

Move Applications Between Virtual Desktops

Thank you for keeping us updated.

Try the following steps to move applications between virtual desktops.

• 
  Right-click on the program you want to move.
  
• 
  Select “Move to”, and then select the desktop number to which you want to move the program.
  

You can also, drag and drop the app of your choice to the desktop you want to add.

Unable to move application to Flash drive/ SD card, move option is disabled

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I understand your concern about moving the files to flash drive.

I would like to inform that movement of few applications to flash drive/ SD card is not possible as those programs would be in-built in operating system.

If you move those applications to flash drive and eject the drive out, accessibility to those programs would be lost and hence the option is disabled.

I suggest you to move the programs/ applications to any other partition on the same and check if it helps.

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

20H2 should not be installed right-away on your device - MS said the rollout is only to a fraction of users and would be labeled as an optional update initially. Are you enrolled in WIP?

You may uninstall 20H2 using the steps below:
