    Windows Start Menu Icon - Can I remove background colour from Icons?


    Windows Version 1909.

    Hi, I'm new here.
    Can't seem to find what I'm looking for, so thought I'd ask here. Apologies if this is a duplicate post.


    Is there a way to remove the background colour on Icons? And also, is there a way to make the icon use the whole box/tile instead of being a reduced image?

    For example I would like to remove or make transparent the red background from my start menu icons (Windows won't allow a black background), and/or also make the icon use the entire box/tile instead of a "zoomed out" view:

    @oil: That's what I did, but unfortunately it's different, it should be like "Internet" and should have the icon of FireFox.

    So.. Remove the icon via Start menu properties, uninstall FF (again) and install?

    You generally set that via the Start Menu settings (right-click start menu -> properties).

    I had that issues a while ago, and it meant removing it from the Start Menu, and reinstalling my browser to get the icon back, it was very odd.

    I was using Opera, so it might be different. But at least remove it from Start Menu and put it back. If it doesn't work, find TweakUI and rebuild your Icon Database.

    Try that before reinstalling.
