Windows 10: Microsoft 1383 wireless mouse, battery drains while not in use

When I first purchased the mouse I feel the battery would last weeks. Now it last 2-3 days. I have not been turning it to the 'off' position as I assumed when not in use it would go into a sleep state? Is this not the case? It's tough to remember to turn the mouse off when you walk away and replacing batteries every 2 days is costly and wasteful.


Any solutions?

troubleshooter and check.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on troubleshooting, then click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

• Outdated device driver
• No device driver installed
• Faulty wireless mouse receiver
