Windows 10: All of my typical folders Desktop, Documents, Photos are being synced with one drive

I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 and it is managing files a strange manner. Instead of the traditional C:\Users\UserName\Desktop my desktop is instead located under C:\Users\UserName\OneDrive\Desktop. This goes for all of the normal default quick access folders Documents & Pictures. The normal non-OneDrive locations do still exist so I now have a terrible mess of some files in the one drive locations and some in the normal location. How do I purge myself of these OneDrive locations?


My \UserName\ folder is also wrong and it is just a small portion \UserN\ which would be nice to fix as well.

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Sync a folder not in Documents to One Drive


I have a folder not in my user/documents folder that I would like to sync to One Drive. So far, I've not been able to figure out how to do that. Actually the folder is not on the C: drive but on D:.

I really need some help.

How do I move photos from the my photo app to the pictures folder on the C drive?

  Select the photo and right click on the photo.
