  1. Windows 10 keeps offering to update a printer I don't have

Every time I apply Windows updates whenever they are offered, there is always one for an HP printer:

    HP - Printer - 4/22/2009 12:00:00 AM - 10.0.17119.1

I used to have a LaserJet connected which I guess is why it is offered, but haven't had any HP printer configured for about ten years now. Even if I just go ahead and install it which seems to happen successfully, it appears in the list every time. It's been doing this for months now. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this entry? It's starting to get on my nerves :-

    :)

windows update keeps offering the same update

We understand that it is important to you to update your Windows 10. The
    SoftwareDistribution
folder contains the files of Windows Update. The files inside that folder may be corrupted that is why you're encountering the issue. We suggest that you rename the folder to SoftwareDistribution.old folder so
that Windows will create a new SoftwareDistribution folder. To do this, follow these steps:

    • Access the link that we've provided in our last reply, and then follow the 2nd step.
    • Access File Explorer. Go to C:\Windows, and then look for
      SoftwareDistribution folder.
    • Right-click the folder, and then select Rename.
    • Rename the folder to SoftwareDistribution.old.
    • Access the link that we've provided again, and then follow the 9th step.
    • Restart the computer.

Windows Update is failing to install the updates that is why it keeps offering you the same updates. There may be a third party program running in the background that is why you're encountering the issue. We suggest that you
perform a clean boot for us to know if you can update your Windows 10 while your third party apps are disabled.
You can perform a clean boot on your computer after following steps 1-5.

Let us know how it goes.

Printer keeps going offline when windows 10 updates

    Hi Graham,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that your printer shows offline.

    • When you say “Printer keeps going offline when windows 10 updates” do you mean that the printer goes offline after installing updates?

I suggest you to follow the below given methods and see if that helps.

    Method 1:

    I suggest you try
changing the printer’s status from “offline” to “online”
and check if it resolves the issue.

    Method 2:

If the issue persists, I would have you download and run the HP Scan doctor from the manufacturers website. Refer to the article and follow the suggestion on
Resolving Printer Offline problem using the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

    Method 3:

If the issue persists, I suggest you refer to the article
