Windows 10: Word on the web now transform documents into PowerPoint presentations

Hi, Office Insiders, my name is Mohit Anand, and Iâm a Program Manager on the PowerPoint team. Iâm glad to share that a new scenario is now available in Word for the web. You can now transform Word documents into PowerPoint presentations.

Word documents to PowerPoint presentations

Have you ever wished you could easily transform an existing Word document into a great PowerPoint presentation? If so, the wait is over!

When you use the Transform command, it creates a presentation based on all the summarized sections of the document. It also adds imagery, icons, videos, themes, and fonts using AI.

How it works

To turn your Word document into a PowerPoint presentation:

Open any document you want to convert into a presentation in Word for the web.

Click File > Transform > Transform to PowerPoint presentation.

When prompted, choose a design theme for your presentation.

Click Open presentation to review the results in PowerPoint for the web.

The presentation will be created in the OneDrive root folder of the user who used this option.

Scenarios to try

Open a Word document and explore the available PowerPoint themes.

Open a Word document that is mostly text and see which AI-backed assets are added by clicking on Transform.

Known Issues

This feature is currently only available in English.

It is not available in the Internet Explorer and Safari browser.

We only support text content for the transformation to presentation, other media content support is not currently available. You can add your own media to the presentation after you have tranformed your Word document.

Availability

Transform your document to PowerPoint presentation is available in Word for the web to the First Release audience. We are rolling it out to all web users shortly.

Features are released over some time to ensure that things are working smoothly. Therefore, we highlight features that you may not have because theyâre slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Additionally, sometimes we remove elements to further improve them based on your feedback. Though this is rare, we also reserve the option to pull a feature entirely out of the product, even if you, as Insiders, have had the opportunity to try them.

Meet Recommended Documents for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel on Windows

Hi, I’m Todd Behrbaum, a Principal Program Manager working on intelligence experiences that save you time in Microsoft Office apps. I wanted to share some details about an exciting enhancement to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows that will help you quickly find and collaborate on documents that matter most to you and your colleagues! 

Get to Your Most Important Work Faster

In the face of ever-expanding file, email, and discussion traffic, we are trying to help you find the files that are most important to you and your team.

How do you keep track of or become aware of a Word file that has had 3 different edits in the last day, or find out that you’ve been @mentioned with a couple questions in an Excel file, or that you have 5 unread comments in an important presentation your team is working on? What if you had a prioritized list of files that had the most significant sharing, commenting, @mentions, editing, and opening activity?

The Recommended Documents service is the “magic” that helps keep track of all of this for you – it is the Intelligence that monitors all the file activity and uses machine learning (ML) to come up with a short list of files that is just what you need, saving you time and reducing distraction.

Using Recommended Documents

This service is now available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows, and can be accessed when you click File and either open or create a file. You’ll see a group of cards that provide easily scannable information about the content and collaboration status of a few documents that we believe you should pay attention to. Let’s review each element:

The center of the card features a thumbnail so you can quickly recognize the file.

The upper part features an icon to indicate what type of activity is most significant and tells you who it was associated with. The 2nd line is the timestamp to let you know when the activity occurred.

At the bottom of the card, you’ll find the file name as well as the location of the file for reference.

Please note that for documents to appear in the Recommended Documents section, they must be stored on OneDrive for Business or SharePoint.

Availability

The feature is currently available in the latest Insider builds of Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Windows. It is also already available worldwide on Office.com and in Word, Excel and PowerPoint for iOS and Mac.

Windows 10 Word Art Transform Text

Dear DaveM121

Thank you for your prompt and detailed response. There is no Transform option at the bottom of the list shown in either PPT nor WORD; my list of Text Effect options displays Shadow, Reflection, Glow, Soft Edges, 3-D format, 3-D Rotation - No Transform.
Another person in a volunteer group I am part of recently told me she has the same problem in Windows 10.

I have Windows for Home and Business 2016 /Microsoft Word 2016. I had this feature on my former Windows WORD and Powerpoint applications but not on my new Windows 10.

Any other suggestions, or who I can contact about a fix?

Assigned Access of Powerpoint Presentation

I was hoping that by downloading the PowerPoint Mobile app in windows store, that I would be able to use it to setup assigned access on a Windows 10 computer and display a powerpoint presentation. Our issues is, we need this to be a Kiosk that no-one can
close out the presentation. Powerpoint allows you to turn most functions off, but you can still access the ease of access toolbar, and can also close the presentation out. When I go to assigned access though, Powerpoint Mobile does not appear in the list of
Apps. I have downloaded other Supposed PowerPoint Presenters, but none of them show up in the list either.

Can anyone tell me how to achieve this! I do not understand how to setup the Power Shell code to set this up, too technical for me. But I really need this as Kiosk computer. Any suggestion?
