Windows 10: HP x2 laptop time/clock update

My boss has a HP x2 and for the past 3 weeks he noticed when re-open my laptop lid (he doesn't shut down the laptop. He usually just close the lid when he's done using it for the day), the clock/time stays at the same time from when he close the lid.

It doesn't update to current time until he restart the laptop. However, the date is always correct. It doesn't happen all the time. Just at random. It's been happening once or twice a week. I feel like chances of a CMOS battery failure is very slim. Does anyone know what else it could be?

Consistent change of clock time

To assist you better, I would like to know the troubleshooting steps that you have performed.

I also suggest you to sync the time zone with internet time zone and check if it helps.

• Click on date and Time from the action bar.
• Click on Add clocks for different time zone.
• Click on Internet Time Tab.
• Change according to your preference.

HP Envy X2 Laptop Critical Process Died in Windows 10

Have a HP Envy X2 laptop with Windows 10. When I power it on it:

1. Goes into Preparing Automatic Repair state with the HP logo and spinning dots below it.
   
2. Then goes into the Blue screen of death stating Critical Process Died.
   
3. After about a couple of minutes the HP logo reappears with the spinning dots (but no automatic repair message)
   
4. Finally the laptop shuts down.
5. I attempt to power it on again, then it repeats the previous steps.

So I cannot get into Windows 10. I've tried getting into safe mode but was unsuccessful.

I have the Windows 10 media file on an USB drive. Can someone advise me how do I install a clean copy of Windows during the boot up process? Or at least get into safe mode?

 

Clock displays wrong time

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the settings of time and time zone:

• Press “Windows+X” and click on “control panel”.
• On the left hand side click on “clock, language and region”.
• Click on “change time zone”.
• And then click on the tab “internet time” and click on “change settings”.
• Check the box “synchronize with an internet time server” and also select the option “time.windows.com” from the drop down and click on “ok” and check if the issue persists.
