My computer keeps rebooting, Event Viewer gives me ID: 6008. How do I figure out what's wrong?

As the title says, I get an EVENT ID 6008: The previous system shutdown at 01:10:34 on ‎25/‎02/‎2021 was unexpected. And that's all the info it gives. I did find another event saying:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff80453c6a036). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP

But I don't know how to read .DMP files. Is there any way to figure out why my computer keeps rebooting?

P.S. This happens once every 2 or 3 days. It happens at night when I am asleep, sometimes when I am using the computer (always doing something different, so couldn't find a trigger there either)

    Thanks

  2. Event ID 6008

    Hello

I have been having this problem with my computer. The screen will randomly go black, and the sound will loop right before it shuts off and restarts. Event viewer tells me that its "event 6008: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.
This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly" that is causing this. I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 960, an i5 4690k 3.50 GHz CPU, Z97x-SLI motherboard, and 8 Gigs of ram.

Anyone know whats going on here? Id appreciate some help.

    Thanks!

  3. Surface Book reboots rather than wake from sleep problem - Event ID 6008 and 41

I have a Surface Book i7, 16GB with NVidia graphics connected to a Surface Dock driving two 2 2560 x 1440 extended displays, mouse, numeric pad and HP Deskjet printer. I have the SB set to sleep and then hibernate after two hours when on battery power.
This seems to work fine when I am out of the office. My issue seems to occur only when plugged into and powered with the Surface Dock. The SB sometimes reboots instead of just waking from sleep. When I look at the Event Viewer Administrative Events this behavior
is always reported at the attempted wake up time with an Event ID 6008 Error and an Event ID 41 Critical Error. The description of the 6008 event is that the previous system shutdown at a given time and date was unexpected. The time and date reported is generally
while the SB is supposed to be sleeping. I find no Events reported at that particular time and date in the Event Viewer anywhere. I had one time that the particular reported time and date was while I was actually using the SB but did not get the error until
after I put the SB to sleep and then attempted to wake it back up.

I have looked through the items listed in the Task Scheduler and did not identify anything that might be occurring at the various reported times as well as in the Event Viewer. Does anyone have a suggestion for me to figure out what might be running
or happening at the particular times reported with the errors?

  4. My computer keeps rebooting, Event Viewer gives me ID: 6008. How do I figure out what's wrong?

    Event ID 6008, Windows 10 1809

Thanks for your reply Leocadia - I understand your suggestions thank you.

The point I was trying to make is our Win 10 Pro v1803 computers, log Event ID 6008 when an unexpected crash happens. However we have Win 10 pro v1809 machines that crashed when the power failed and did not record an Event ID 6008 so I was not able to tell
when the power actually failed, only when they were rebooted. - so my question is :- is this a bug in the 1809 release or by Microsoft design and has anybosy else experienced this situation ??

    in Windows 10 Support
How do I figure out what caused my computer to freeze?: what do you mean event viewer You have an Event Viewer under Computer Management. It tracks...events...such as crashes, driver crashes, etc. That's always your first stop for diagnosing issues like this.
