Why doesn't the file search engine work like in the old days of searching ?

If I search for files or folders with the exact name

    _V

the windows search takes minutes and findes al lost of items which are not

If i open a msdos box and i type

    dir _V /s

it gives me the correct answers in a millisecond

The problem is that the answers are subfolders i would like to erase by selecting a portion of the answer, and that ain't possible in msdos box

but the windows search gives me hundreds of wrong answers

wildcards * and ? do not work as they should, as mentioned in other post by other users up to five years ago, and this still isn't fixed.

please fix this so that it works in the windows file exporer also !!!

    :)

Windows doesn`t start. Authomatic repair doesn`t work.

    Thanks again!!

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

I ran SeaTools. These are the results:

Does it mean my HDD is useless?

  3. Using Wildcard to search in windows Explorer

    Hi Jerry,

To isolate your concern regarding Wildcard search on
    Windows File Explorer
, we suggest that you run an SFC
    (System File Checker) tool
to check for system file corruptions and fix it. Once done, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

In addition, you can manage the search options to give you the most thorough search by following these steps:

    • Click File tab on Windows File Explorer, click
      Change folder and search options.

    • Click Search tab and select Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files (search might take longer).
    • You can also select Always search file names and contents (this might take several minutes).

Let us know if the solution above works for you.

file explorer doesn't work with wildcards * ? like in the old days

internet explorer doesn´t load any page

I tryed all 3 methods but got no success.

The funny thing is that IE is working fine on a new created test account (like method 3 suggests) but after this I switch back to my account and confirm IE is useless.

In sum IE not working on my account which is the admin one, but it is working on other accounts I create.

    Doesn´t make sense to me...
