Strange problems with the Cumulative Update Previews installed 25th February 2021

A few hours ago when I powered up, there was a message about a new WU. It was a "Cumulative Update Preview" and downloaded/installed a ".Net update" on my laptop without any problems. It took an hour or so and said that my version number was unchanged 19042.804.

I then clicked on My Settings>History to copy the details and paste them on the Word Document I keep on my desktop with details of every WU. At this point the following warning "Update Paused" per this snip,

Question: I've never seen this kind of warning message before. What does it mean? What's significant about the 5th March? It's a Friday so can't be referring to the next Patch Tuesday. [I presume that the date is in UK format and not USA where it would be the 3rd May.]

I clicked on "Resume Updates". This downloaded/installed the Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 , the second on the list shown below and it changed my version number to 19042.844

Next problem: I had questions and so wanted to create a new thread to ask the questions here. At this point I had major problems copying and pasting the update history on my Word Document; I took screenshots but was unable to take a snip of the history. It kept bringing up a previous snip. I closed and restarted my laptop and tried again, hence this new thread.

Question: What's a "Cumulative Update Preview"? I haven't seen the name before seen before & at some point

in all this I'm sure I saw that the Updates are 'optional'. Why are they optional? They seem to be important/critical updates, the kind we'd normally see on a Patch Tuesday.

Did anyone else have any issues with these Updates?

    :)
