  1. USB speakers correctly identified in Device Manager, not showing up in Playback Devices

I recently upgraded my laptop to a Dell XPS.

    Both laptops run Windows 10.

My Harman Kardon SoundSticks worked on the previous Dell laptop Including a Macbook/Windows 10 laptop I was using.

    They should be plug-n-play

They appear correctly in the Device Manager

They don't appear in the Playback Devices.

I have both Show Disabled and Disconnected Devices selected in the Playback Devices Dialog

I have removed them from the Device Manager and rebooted, to no avail

I have tried updating the drivers

When I power them down/remove them from the laptop and reconnect/power up, Windows emanates the expected tones

I have an external HDMI monitor that connects and plays sounds fine.

    The internal speakers work fine

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

    :)

  2. Headphones and Speakers not showing up in playback devices

    Hi Jonathan,

To help us identify the cause of the issue and then find the proper resolution for it, please tell us if you made any significant hardware or software changes on your laptop prior to this issue. Also, can you provide us the steps you have already taken to
try to resolve the issue? In the meantime, follow these steps on how you can enable your playback devices:

    • Right-click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Sounds.
    • Under the Playback tab, right-click on the default speakers and select
Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. Your headphones or speakers should now appear here.
    • Right-click the headphones or speakers and select Enable.

Keep us updated with the results.

USB speakers correctly identified in Device Manager, not showing up in Playback Devices

Bluetooth speakers pair correctly, but are not detected as usable playback devices

I have two models of bluetooth speakers, a UE Mini Boom and a UE Roll. The UE Mini Boom paired correctly and I have been using it just fine until recently it stopped being detected as a usable playback device. I assumed something was wrong with the speaker
unit. I un-paired and re-paired the UE Mini Boom and that didn't fix the issue. I received a replacement UE Roll, and after successfully pairing the device with PC, I had a similar problem. The UE Roll speaker would show up marked as a "headphones" speaker,
but during Troubleshooting it would say it couldn't connect because there was no jack connected. I un-paired and re-paired the UE Roll, and now nothing labeled UE Roll shows up in the playback devices at all.

Troubleshooting each device individually from the "Devices and Printers" window results in "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem".

I've already checked that both speaker units have updated drivers.

I've gotten both speakers to pair and playback successfully on my Android Phone.

I've gotten my PC sound to work when I plug a headset directly into to the audio jack.
