  1. Disable the "Require sign-in" feature when computer has been idle

How can I prevent Windows from locking the screen and forcing me to type my password any time my computer has been idle? I don't mind having to enter my password after restarting, but I do not want it to be automatically when I am actively using the computer.

All power and sleep settings are already set to Never. Actually, I wish I could change some of these actually kick on after a certain time. I just do not want to have to type my password after that happens.

    Settings -> Power & Sleep

On battery power, turn off after = Never

When plugged in, turn off after = Never

On battery power, PC goes to sleep after = Never

When my PC is asleep and battery on power, disconnect from the network = Never

Under Settings -> Sign-in options, the option Require sign-in is currently set to 15 minutes. That is the longest option available in the dropdown. Why are the only options "Always", 1, 3, 5, or 15 minutes? I need this to be "Never".

    :)

  2. password sign in

    Hi,

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Settings.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Click on Sign in options.
    • On the right side, you will see required sign in.
    • Change it to Never.

Let us know how it goes.

not able to disable driving signing requirement

I'm trying to install a program on Windows 10, from several years ago, and getting the error "A digitally signed driver is required." I looked up how to disable this requirement, and followed the steps.

    Shift-Shutdown

Selecting configuration option for startup configurations, reboot

Hitting F7 once I get to the options screen

    reboot

And I still get the error while trying to install the program. I tried this a few times to no avail.

  4. Disable the "Require sign-in" feature when computer has been idle

Best method to disable Vista/Vista 64 driver signing?

    Black Ice:

It's not a matter of "try". The bcdedit command is not fully consistent and reliable for some folks.

So far, to me, it seems the third choice always locks (disables) the driver signing. If that is the case for anyone who uses it, then that would suggest it is the more reliable and consistent method of the ones I've listed, anyway.

    Thanks for your feedback.
