External Monitor becomes a ghost when changing input sources

I currently acquired my second Windows 10 computer. They both have a primary monitor and share a external monitor both connected to different HDMI inputs. Every time I change the input source on the external monitor Windows doesn't seem to auto detect the monitor is no longer connected and I'm still able to extend my mouse to the "ghost screen". Is there a way to fix this problem?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Windows 10 with an external monitor

    With those details... no.

    • Make & model of the computer system?
    • Make & model of the monitor you are attempting to connect to?
    • What type of connection is on the PC, type of cable / adapters between the PC and the monitor?
    • Did you change the INPUT SOURCE on the monitor when connecting?
    • When was the last time this worked? Was it the same monitor & PC?
    • What changed since the last time it worked?

"input signal out of range, change to 1600 x 1050 @ 60 HZ"

    Hi,

Here are the reasons why you're getting the "input signal out of range, change to 1600 x 1050 @ 60 HZ" error:

    • The monitor cannot accommodate the set refresh rate (e.g. 60Hz).
    • Outdated graphics card driver

For us to effectively assist you with this, we'd like to know the following:

    • Which build and version of Windows 10 are you running on your device?
    • What is the maximum possible refresh rate can be set for your monitor (refer to monitor's manual)?
    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue?

We're looking forward to your reply.
