    Repeated ntoskrnl.exe crashes Driver Verifier failures


    Previous dead thread here, summary is that I've been having crashes when playing rather intensive games, or otherwise stressing out my computer in some way.


    New development is that I've found a way to force the crash to occur, with the Windows Driver Verifier. Running that on boot forces a BSOD with the message DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION, usually with several files listed in the minidump as possible culprits. Minidumps located here, though BlueScreenView has already told me that the common denominator between the crashes is ntoskrnl.exe:

    Other posts about this particular process failing point to a memory failure, but Windows Memory Diagnostic came back with zero errors both before and after I turned off D.O.C.P., so a hardware failure is possible but extremely unlikely. Nonetheless, I'll be able to borrow a friend's ram this weekend to rule that out definitively. I'll update this post when I've done that.


    In any case, I'm hoping someone can decipher these minidumps and tell me what's going on!

    • Update your Realtek audio driver.
    • Update your computer.
    • Disable overclocking settings.
    • Turn off BlueStacks/ another Android emulator.
    • Clean your registry.
    • Check your disk for errors.
    • Fix bad memory issues.
    • Remove faulty sticks of RAM.
