Windows 10: Network share odd problem?

Discus and support Network share odd problem? in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; Every time I try to copy a .ctd file directly onto my network share, the file gets completely emptied unless I zip it and then copy it into the share....     Every time I try to copy a .ctd file directly onto my network share, the file gets completely emptied unless I zip it and then copy it into the share. Anyone have an idea why this could be and what I could do?

  2. Network Sharing Password Problems

    Hi William,

    Welcome and thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    We regret the inconvenience caused to you.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    Step 1: Network Troubleshooter and check, if this helps.

    • In the search box, type ‘Troubleshooter’, and then click ‘Troubleshooting’.
    • Under ‘Network and Internet’, click ‘Internet Connections
    • Follow the on screen instructions.
    Step 2: Update Network Adapter.


    • Right click on Start button, type Device Manager and Enter.

    • Now click on your Network Adapter.

    • Right click and click on Properties, and go to Driver tab and click on
      Update driver.

    • What is the error message you get, while accessing the file or the Printer using Windows 7 PC?
    • Are you aware of any recent changes on the PC, prior to this issue?


    Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform all the steps in all the PC that are connected in the network as suggested by Roohi Taj on January 8th, 2019

    Hi Arya,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    Provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:

    1. Are you trying to share the wireless network connection from Windows device to phone?
    2. What is the make and model of the phone?
    3. Which version of Windows is installed on your device?
    Refer the article ‘Which version of Windows operating system am I running
    to provide the details.

    If you’re referring to sharing the Wireless network connection in Windows 10, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. Press Windows + I key on your keyboard and click on Network & Internet.
    2. On the network & Internet page, click on ‘Mobile hotspot’.
    3. Turn On’ Share my Internet connection with other devices under Mobile hotspot.
    4. The default network name and password will be available under Mobile hotspot.
    5. Enter the same password on the device which you’re trying to connect and check the status of the issue.
