Windows 10: Modifying Microsoft Store App Shortcuts in Application List

I have installed some apps from Microsoft Store, and I don't like the placement of it in the application list in the start menu.


In a question I asked someone else, I learned that the apps installed from Microsoft Store are stored in C:/PorgramFiles/WindowsApps/. I was also told as far he knows that the "shortcuts" for the apps installed from Microsoft Store aren't actually shortcuts, they are just accessed from that folder. Can I modify the name of that "shortcut"?


I'm pretty sure that I can change the name by changing the "DisplayName" in the AppxManifest.xml file, but even though I have changed the ownership of the folder and subfolder and files, it still doesn't allow me to edit the file.

Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

• Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
• Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
• Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
• Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
• Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

• Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
• Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.
