Windows 10: Green ticks and red crosses against my photos

Hi


I am trying to organise my photos in the yellow folders on my computer but some have green ticks and red crosses against them.


From what other people have said on this forum it sounds like this is something to do with OneDrive.


However I think I disabled OneDrive at some point and can't find it to manage settings etc.


To be clear I don't want OneDrive because I have too many photos to use this and can't pay for extra storage.


Can anyone help? I don't want to spend ages sorting my photos and then finding these icons mean there is some problem with my folders.


It's so annoying. I bought this new laptop mainly so I could sort my photos out properly my old laptop had become very slow but the folders worked just fine but every time I get round to doing this task this issue comes up and it goes on the 'Too Difficult' pile.

Red crosses and green ticks on photo files.

why do some photo files have red crosses and some have green ticks on them. This is a relatively new thing on my laptop, All of my photos (1000s of them) now have either red crosses or green ticks. I dont use Onedrive or Google Drive but I do use Google
photos. im pretty sure they have all been synced from on to the other. Thanks.

green check mark icon indicates the files which are synced successfully to Google Drive. The files which shows red cross icon indicates the unsyncable files. If you're facing any sync issues with Backup and Sync, I suggest following these steps to restart it
and see if that works fine:

On your computer, click Backup and Sync Backup and Sync.

Click More More and then Quit Backup and Sync.

Reopen Backup and Sync.

After you restart Backup and Sync, it will take some time to complete.

Regarding your inquiry about Google Drive folder, when you try to open the Backup and Sync tool in your device, you'll be redirected to the Google Drive folder by default.
